Acrylic on white interior basecoat

I was commissioned to do this mural for Main Chick, a Southern California fried chicken chain that served very spicy Nashville-style fried chicken. The thought of a firefighting chicken trying to put out heavy flames was ironic but I also found it comical- so I ran with it.

As far as process goes, the design of the fire is a mix between my admiration for movement, form and color. putting them all together was a challenge that was both frustrating and exciting. It went something like this… I would slap on a color and shape, my stomach would then start churning with indecision and insecurity that would hang around until I muster up the courage to place the next shape. This back and fourth went on for hours and the wall looked like a chaotic mess until the very end where somehow it all tied together.
